Joe Otterson TV Reporter Melissa Roxburgh has been cast in a lead role of the upcoming NBC drama series “The Hunting Party,” Variety has learned.
The series was originally announced at NBC back in February. It is described as a crime procedural about “a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.” Roxburgh will star as Rebecca “Bex” Henderson.
The character is described as “Shrewd, steadfast and obsessively curious, Bex is an ex-FBI agent recruited to an elite government task force due to her reputation as a savvy profiler who’s caught some of the world’s most dangerous serial killers.” The role marks a starring role return to NBC for Roxburgh, as she is best known for her starring role in the supernatural drama series “Manifest.” The show aired its first three seasons on NBC before moving to Netflix for a fourth and final season.
She also recently appeared in an episode of NBC’s followup to “Quantum Leap” and previously starred in the CW series “Valor.” In film, she has starred in features like “Mindcage,” “I Still Believe,” and “Star Trek Beyond.” JJ Bailey is the creator of “The Hunting Party” and wrote the pilot.
