Manchester WILL bid to host next year's Eurovision song contest. The news came after the European Broadcast Union and the BBC both said the UK will take over hosting the contest, replacing war-torn Ukraine.
Speaking on Twitter, the BBC said: "It is a matter of great regret that our colleagues and friends in Ukraine are not able to host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Being asked to host the largest and most complex music competition in the world is a great privilege. "The BBC is committed to making the event a true reflection of Ukrainian culture alongside showcasing the diversity of British music and creativity.
The BBC will now begin the process to find a host city to partner with us on delivering one of the most exciting events to come to the UK in 2023." READ MORE: Body found in search for Haydn Griffiths last seen swimming in River Mersey Manchester wasted no time in throwing its name into the ring.
