The Manchester Food and Drink Festival is moving its opening date in line with the period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Following official guidance from Manchester City Council, it will now start on September 22 and end on October 2. The free Festival Hub at Cathedral Gardens will now run from September 22 to 25, and then from September 29 to October 2, from midday to 11pm each day.

The MFDF Curry Club event has been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon. Meanwhile, the MFDF Wine Festival, which was set to happen at New Century, will now happen on October 7 and 8, the weekend after the main festival events, though the festival’s awards show and dinner will remain on September 26 as previously planned.

The festival will be celebrating its 25th anniversary, with a host of live events, chef demos, its artisan market and beer bar, all taking place in the centre of the city, with other fringe events happening too.
