The 27-year-old is the second daughter and youngest child of George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews. Her grandfather Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.
The late sovereign and Prince Edward were first cousins through their fathers, King George VI, and Prince George, the Duke of Kent.
Edward's mother Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark was also a first cousin of the Queen's late husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, making him both a second cousin and first cousin once removed to King Charles III.
