Man's body found in the River Mersey next to tip

A man's body has been discovered in the River Mersey next to a tip. Emergency services including police officers, fire crews and the ambulance were called to reports of a man in the River Mersey next to Woolston Waste Disposal Centre in Warrington at around 9.15am today, February 11.

The tip was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, however this was reopened at around 11.30am.

Formal identification of the man has not yet taken place. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.
