M8 crash aftermath sees 'pram and toys' littered in debris as two adults and child taken to hospital

Two adults and a child have been rushed to hospital after a horror smash on the M8 which left toys and a pram lying in the debris.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near Livingston, at around 1pm on Sunday, May 22, following reports that a single motor had collided with the crash barrier.

Edinburgh Live reports that an eyewitness allegedly saw marks on the roadway which suggested the car may have flipped a number of times.

Police Scotland closed the busy motorway in both directions while paramedics and fire crews were also in attendance. A witness from the scene said: "You could see the car had flipped several times before coming to a stop on its side."You could see a pram and toys laying halfway inside the boot which was crumpled and windows completely smashed."One man was rushed to hospital by ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries.A woman and a child were also taken for medical treatment after suffering minor injuries in the crash.Officers were later able to open one lane for traffic while road workers cleared the remaining debris.A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “Around 1.05pm on Sunday, 22 May, 2022, police were called to the M8 between junctions 2 and 3, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.“One man was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.“One woman and one child were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
