Knife thug jailed for marching man to cash machine and demanding money

A knife thug who tried to rob a man has been jailed for 18 months.Andrew Brennan forced the victim to leave his Motherwell home and ordered him to withdraw money from a bank machine.But the plan backfired when he discovered that the victim had only £3 in his account.Brennan, 31, of Chapel Street, Airdrie, admitted assault and attempted robbery when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court at an earlier hearing.Wendy McAdam, prosecuting, said the accused turned up at the victim’s flat in Draffen Tower about 7.30pm on September 28.

She told the court: “There was loud banging on the door.“The victim answered and saw a male dressed all in black, with his hood up and a scarf covering the bottom half of his face.“He was brandishing a long kitchen
