The King will feature on the front page of the Big Issue magazine as he marks his 75th birthday and launches the Coronation Food Project. This year, King Charles is using his milestone birthday, on 14 November, to officially launch the scheme which aims to support the nation by redistributing food destined for landfills during the cost-of-living crisis. The Big Issue’s article, which will see the King's portrait on the front cover, will be published on Monday ahead of his birthday the following day.

In the article, Charles shares his concerns about the amount of food waste across the county. He said: "Food need is as real and urgent a problem as food waste – and if a way could be found to bridge the gap between them, then it would address two problems in one. "It is my great hope that this Coronation Food Project will find practical ways to do just that – rescuing more surplus food, and distributing it to those who need it most." Co-chairs of The Coronation Food Project, Baroness Louise Casey and Dame Martina Milburn were also involved in this issue of the magazine and provided insight into food insecurity across the UK.They also spoke about organisations that are supporting those in need.

Acclaimed British photographer, Rankin captured the Big Issue’s cover photo in the Clarence House Gardens in October 2023.The article also showcases the official emblem of The Coronation Food Project, which was created by designer Sir Jony Ive and his creative collective LoveFrom.

An animation featuring The Coronation Food Project will be displayed for 10 minutes. You can find it in Piccadilly Circus, London at 5.30pm on the King’s birthday (Tuesday, 14 November).
