KATE Garraway has shut down her husband Derek Draper's company after it racked up nearly £200,000 of debt when he was left unable to work.

The former spin doctor's psychotherapy company, Astra Aspera Ltd, owes £184,000 — including £125,000 in taxes — and a liquidator has been appointed to break up the firm's assets.

A friend of the family told MailOnline: "It's terribly sad, but Derek can't work and has no prospect of being able to do so in the near future, so Kate thought it best to close it down." Kate, 54, was appointed director last year after Draper, also 54, was hit with Covid at the start of the pandemic in 2020.

He spent over a year in hospital after contracting Covid before finally returning home to be cared for by his GMB star wife and their children.
