Maggie Moore(s) has the real life families behind the tragedies upset. Starring Jon Hamm and Tina Fey, the movie is described as a “black comedy” where the police chief starts to unravel a web of small-town lies while investigating the bizarre murders of two women with the same name.
The movie is loosely based off the real life murders of Mary Lou Morris and Mary McGinnis Morris, and their daughters weren’t too happy about the movie. Keep reading to find out more… Marilyn Blalock and Katharyn Morris, who are the daughters of the Marys, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about being unsettled over the movie, and revealed they didn’t know anything about the movie ahead of the trailer, which was released, of all days, on Mother’s Day. “Mother’s Day is a really hard time anyway,” Marilyn shared with the outlet. “That it was bad timing is an understatement.
It’s very distasteful because we’re still living with this. These women are staples in our lives. That was my mother.” She then added that she was shocked at watching the trailer at first. “I found it absolutely unbelievable.
Because this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me — and then to figure out that it was being done in a comedic format was really hurtful.
