Johnny Depp has claimed he suffered domestic abuse at the hands of ex wife Amber Heard. Depp was wrapping up his testimony during the couples $50million libel case which has caught global interest and continues to roll on.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star took Heard to court for defamation after she implied in The Washington Post that Depp physically and sexually abused her in 2018.Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez asked him in court: “What did you say in response when Ms Heard said ‘tell the world Johnny, tell them I Johnny Depp, a man, am a victim too of domestic violence?’”He replied: “I said yes, I am."Depp admitted earlier in court that he was "ashamed" of texts sent to actor Paul Bettany, where he suggested they "burn" and "drown" Amber.He explained he and Paul had an "abstract sense of humour" claiming the jokes were based on a Monty Python sketch.In a 2013 text to Paul, Johnny wrote: “Let’s burn Amber."Let’s drown her before we burn her.
I will f*** her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.”Johnny insisted the message content was never “intended to be real” and was just a coping mechanism.He said: “As these are private texts there was a lot … in context."“It’s important to know none of that was ever intended to be real and the language used which … yes, I am ashamed (of) has to be spread on the world like peanut butter.“For example, the text that is about burning Ms Heard is directly from Monty Python and the sketch about burning witches and then drowning the witches.“This is a film we’d all watch when we were 10 – it’s just irreverent and abstract humour.”Depp claimed Heard was threatened by his friendship with Bettany.He explained: "Ms Heard despised Mr Bettany mainly because we had become such close
