At the start of October, the UK Government introduced the new £2,500 Energy Price Guarantee which will be in place for the next two years in an effort to help households handle rising gas and electricity costs.
Without the intervention, average household energy bills would have jumped 80 per cent from October 1, from £1,971 to £3,549 a year under the Ofgem price cap.
Other measures in place to help an estimated 22 million households across the country include the £400 energy rebate scheme which will see £66 deducted from all household bills with a direct electricity connection.
Cost of living support payments are also still ongoing with the next wave of the £650 means-tested payment - worth £324 - set to land in bank account next month.
