British Airways (BA) have announced it will axe a further 10,300 short-haul flights until the end of October, causing travel chaos for thousands of holiday-makers.
This means 13% of flights have been cancelled this summer. BA are citing challenges faced by the aviation sector as a whole, which includes staff shortages and increased demand of services.
It said: "The whole aviation industry continues to face significant challenges and we’re completely focused on building resilience into our operation to give customers the certainty they deserve."Rory Boland, editor of Which?
Travel, said the latest blow was a “damning indictment” of BA’s failure to manage its summer flight schedule. He said: "BA has continued to promote and sell flights it could not fulfil, even as thousands of customers have faced the chaos of cancellations in recent weeks."You can look out for last-minute cancellations by using the British Airways travel checker.
