After 23 years, it was the end of an era for fans and the stars of Holby City. The BBC One medical drama ended with an emotional final episode that celebrated the spirit of the NHS and featured a tragic death.

Viewers were left heartbroken as Holby City officially came to an end on Tuesday night with the dramatic death of a fan favourite. Jac Naylor, played by actress Rosie Marcel, tragically passed away after suffering a stroke shortly after life-saving tumour surgery. Surgeon Jac has been battling brain cancer on the show, and fans watched as she desperately tried to find someone to perform life-changing surgery on her after finding out she had less than six months to live.
