Party nights and Hogmanay celebrations have been axed in South Ayrshire due to nightclubs in Scotland closing for three weeks from December 27.

Deputy First Minister John Swinney announced late night venues would be required to close rather than attempting to enforce 1m distancing between customers.

Nightclubs originally had the option of staying open if physical distancing and table service were put in place, a measure which an Ayr live events venue said was “impossible”.

Mr Swinney added funding would be made available to support affected businesses. Now, nightclubs and live events spaces across the region have cancelled their Hogmanay nights as they pull down the shutters once more.
