Heavy snow and strong winds forecast ahead of Storm Eunice hitting Stirling

Stirling is braced for snow on Friday as Storm Eunice is expected to hit Scotland.A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office with forecasters predicting disruption due to heavy snow and some strong winds.The warning is in place from 3am until 6pm and includes Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk.Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area.There is a chance of travel delays on roads, possibly with stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel, a slight chance that some rural communities could be temporarily cut off and a small chance that power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.A Met Office forecaster said: “Snow, heavy in places, is likely to develop on the northern side of Storm Eunice as it moves across the UK on Friday.

There is still uncertainty in the track of Storm Eunice and not all areas within the warning area are expected to see snow.“However, some places may see around 5cm of snow at low levels away from coasts.

Accumulations are expected to be significantly higher over hills though with 10-20cm perhaps up to 30cm possible above around 250 metres.
