Football pundit Ian Wright was involved in a car accident earlier today as he made his way to the Match Of The Day studios in Greater Manchester.

The 58-year-old former Arsenal striker praised the 'brilliant' emergency services for attending to the scene, which took place on the M56.

Posting it to Twitter, the presenter wrote: "Not a straightforward trip up for @BBCMOTD! "Thankfully nobody was hurt. "Be careful out there, lots of water on the road. "Thank you to my amazing driver Jay and the brilliant emergency services".
