Two gun thugs who carried out the "public execution" of a beloved dad-of-two were found guilty of murder today. Patrick Boyle, 26, was tragically shot dead in summer 2021.Prosecutors claim that Rueben Murphy, 26, was the gunman on an electric bike who showed his victim "no mercy", after arguing with an associate of Mr Boyle's earlier on that same day.

Self-confessed drug dealer Murphy said that at the time Mr Boyle was gunned down, he was in a back garden in another part of Huyton, "off me head on ket", Liverpool Echo reports.Murphy denied knowing or shooting Mr Boyle and insisted: "I might have sold drugs in the past, but I'm not a killer."Prosecutors argued that Murphy's friend Ben Doyle, 24, was "complicit" in the killing and helped plan out the attack.Doyle claimed the murder was committed by a mystery man, who he refused to name because he feared "retribution" and wasn't a "snitch".

A jury today found both men guilty of murder, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Both defendants got up and left the dock as the verdicts were read out to the court. The judge, The Honourable Mr Justice Morris, offered Peter Killen and John Jones, QC, time to get the defendants back to the dock but both refused.Justice Morris said: “Mr Jones and Mr Killen, you will notice that your clients have absented themselves from the dock.
