A teenage boy has been found guilty of the murder of 12-year-old schoolgirl Ava White. Ava was fatally stabbed in the neck Liverpool city centre on November 25 last year.
The 14 year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied her murder and manslaughter and has been on trial for the past fortnight at Liverpool Crown Court.
Today the boy, referred to as Boy A was found guilty of her murder. More than 20 members of Ava White’s family in the public gallery erupted into cheers as the jury foreman returned the unanimous guilty verdict, reached after two hours and eight minutes of deliberations. He was then seen in tears as he stood up and walked away off-screen, reports the Liverpool Echo. The judge Mrs Justice Amanda Yip adjourned sentencing until July 11.
