Glasgow are taking to social media, warning their customers to stay vigilant. It comes as several accounts are reporting fake profiles with scammers pretending to be a local eatery or hotel chain.
Some of the businesses that have spoken out include Fat Lobster and the Maldon Hotel chain but it's not just them, with the NHS warning people of a scam involving a text claiming people need to get tested after being exposed to the omicron variant. READ MORE: Glasgow weather: City set for thunder and lightning as UK gets second heatwaveLocated in the former home of the much-loved Mussel Inn on Hope Street, Fat Lobster, which opened its doors just this year, took to Instagram, stressing to its customers that they would never send them links or ask for personal information.
They wrote: "It has come to our attention that there is a fake fat lobster account under the name of Fat Lobster Glasgow. We will never directly message you, unless you start the conversation.
We will never send you links. We will never ask for your personal information. "Please do not share any of your details with anyone / stay safe on the internet.
