Glasgow businesses 'plagued' with fake accounts as warning issued to customers over scammers

Glasgow are taking to social media, warning their customers to stay vigilant. It comes as several accounts are reporting fake profiles with scammers pretending to be a local eatery or hotel chain.

Some of the businesses that have spoken out include Fat Lobster and the Maldon Hotel chain but it's not just them, with the NHS warning people of a scam involving a text claiming people need to get tested after being exposed to the omicron variant. They wrote: "It has come to our attention that there is a fake fat lobster account under the name of Fat Lobster Glasgow. We will never directly message you, unless you start the conversation.

We will never send you links. We will never ask for your personal information. "Please do not share any of your details with anyone / stay safe on the internet.
