A getaway driver who helped three masked men rob a supermarket in Stockport has been jailed. Jonathan Findlay, 39, of Hollyhedge Road in Wythenshawe, was sentenced to prison at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to robbery and assisting an offender.

The court was told how three masked men - who remain unknown - entered the Tesco Express store on Nursery Road in Cheadle Heath at around 9.45pm on May 5 of last year. Three staff members in the store at the time were threatened with violence, before the men left and got into a black Saab vehicle waiting outside, which was being driven by Findlay.

Having checked CCTV footage and gathered witness accounts, detectives were able to track down the vehicle to an address in Cheadle Heath where Findlay was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
