G4 TV President Russell Arons Exits Revived Network; Gaming Vet Joe Marsh Expands Duties At Comcast Spectacor

EXCLUSIVE: Russell Arons, an experienced digital executive who joined G4 TV last September as president, has exited the recently revived network.Arons, who has previously held senior-level positions at Warner Bros, Machinima and Electronic Arts, left her G4 post in July, multiple insiders confirmed to Deadline.

Her departure came less than a year after her arrival was announced, and the exact circumstances remain unclear. Comcast Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based entertainment and sports division of Comcast that runs G4, declined to comment.

Arons did not respond to a request for comment from Deadline.Joe Marsh, an executive with extensive gaming-related experience at Comcast Spectacor, is expanding his role to encompass many of Arons’ former duties.

Marsh is currently serving as CEO of T1, an international esports joint venture between Comcast Spectacor and Korea’s SK Telecom.

Future sells large chunk of his publishing catalogue to investment firm
Future has sold the publishing rights to his recorded output from 2004 to 2020 to the investment firm Influence Media Partners.Variety reports that the catalogue contains 612 titles including collaborations with Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and The Weeknd. The deal is reportedly in the “high eight figures”.Based on the cited time period, Influence Media likely now owns the publishing rights to all of Future’s nine studio albums, ranging from his 2012 debut ‘Pluto’ through to 2020’s ‘High Off Life’.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief More than 600 buyers from companies in 30 countries are expected to be in Seoul, South Korea from Wednesday for the in-person return of the Broadcast WorldWide convention, better known as BCWW. Although BCWW bills itself as Asia’s largest broadcasting content market, given the strength of the Korean wave, much of the focus will be on Korean content and the business of working with Korean companies. Registered buyers and potential partners include Amazon Prime, Warner Bros. Discovery, NBCUniversal, PCCW the Hong Kong-based owner of Viu, and China’s iQiyi, all of which have already become purveyors of K-programming. “For the past 22 years, BCWW has served as a foundation for K-content to garner the global attention it is getting today,” said Cho Hyun-rae, president of the government-backed Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). He added that he expects KOCCA and BCWW to “provide continuous support for K-content.”

As part of Orsi’s re-upped pact, she has been given the new title of executive vice president of HBO programming, head of HBO drama series and films. Orsi first joined HBO in 2003 as an executive assistant. She has been the solo head of drama series development and programming since her former co-head David Levine exited in February 2019. They were both appointed to the position originally in 2016. News that Orsi, a direct report to HBO and HBO Max content chief Casey Bloys, will be continuing her tenure at HBO comes on the heels of the enormous launch success for “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon,” a series Orsi has played a big part in developing and marketing.

The submission period for this year’s awards for film and television is now open, while the nominating committee has already been formed. The nominations voting period for the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards begin on Dec. 5 and close on Jan. 8. The nominations will be announced Jan. 11, four days before the Critics Choice Awards ceremony. The final voting opens on Jan. 18 and closes on Feb. 24. The awards are still without a TV berth, after longtime partner TNT and its sister network TBS dropped the show during the continued downsizing at Warner Bros.-Discovery following the merger.
