Russell Brand has been accused of sexual assault by four different women, with the alleged assaults taking place during a seven-year period from 2006 to 2013.The allegations have come to light following a joint investigation by Channel 4 Dispatches and the Sunday Times newspaper.

One woman alleges the comedian sexually assaulted her while they were working in Los Angeles together, and says he threatened her with legal action if she chose to tell anyone.Another claims she was a 16-year-old schoolgirl when the then 31-year-old Brand assaulted her, during what she's described as an emotionally abusive relationship that lasted around three months.A third woman claims she was raped by Brand against a wall in his Los Angeles home, while a fourth has claimed Brand sexually assaulted her, and was also physically and emotionally abusive towards her.

The allegations were published ahead of a Channel 4 Dispatches investigation, Russell Brand: In Plain Sight, which aired this evening at 9pm.It comes after Brand, 48, took to YouTube to state that he "absolutely refutes" what he described as "very serious allegations" made against him.At the time the assaults allegedly took place, Brand was at the height of his fame, presenting shows for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4, while starring in Hollywood films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, and Arthur. As reported by The Times, one of the women, referred to as Alice, claims she was just 16 years of age and still at school when the then 31-year-old allegedly sexually assaulted her.

She says she had never had sex before meeting Brand, and that he was obsessed with her being a virgin, referring to her as "my little dolly" and "the child" during their three-month relationship.
