Four 'potential spiking incidents' dealt with by volunteers in Manchester city centre over Halloween weekend

Ambulance volunteers dealt with “four potential spiking incidents” in Manchester city centre last weekend. It is not known if those patients assisted were found to have tested positive for substances commonly used to spike drinks, St John Ambulance said.

The charity issued a warning about spiking ahead of the Halloween weekend. Volunteers were stationed on Sackville Street, in Manchester’s Gay Village, on Friday and Saturday night as part of their usual weekly patrol to help any clubbers who required assitance.

But the service encouraged Halloween party-goers to remain extra vigilant following increased reports of people being spiked across the UK.
