Former Celtic midfielder Jamie Lindsay has won the Papa John's Trophy at Rotherham United. The 26-year-old - from Rutherglen - came off the bench to help the League One side in a classic final with Sutton United which they prevailed as 4-2 winners. It wasn't easy though as the Millers had to come from behind twice to secure the trophy after Ben Wiles had initially levelled proceedings for them.League Two Sutton led 2-1 heading into the final moments of the match before Jordi Osei-Tutu equalised in the sixth minute of added time at Wembley.Goals in extra time from Chiedozie Ogbene and Michael Ihiekwe ensured the Celtic academy graduate got his hand on a winners medal.Lindsay hails from Rutherglen and was also brought up in Larkhall, learning his trade in the Hoops youth system. After loans with Dumbarton, Morton and Ross County, he joined the latter permanently in 2018 and left for Rotherham a year later.Papa Johns Trophy success is the third time Lindsay has won silverware, following a Scottish Championship and Challenge Cup double at County in his sole term at the Staggies.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
