A hundred rare tree frogs have hatched at Chester Zoo, in a European first for the species.Mexican leaf frogs are usually found in the dry forests of Mexico, and breeders have never been able to hatch them in Europe before - until now.Video taken at the zoo shows the frogs’ incredible developmental stages, where tadpoles can be seen growing in transparent eggs.Adam Bland, Lead Amphibian Keeper at the zoo, said: “It’s so exciting to have bred these stunning frogs, especially as we’re the first zoo in Europe ever to do so.“This is breaking new ground for us.
