Firefighters tackling mile long blaze in South Ayrshire near Straiton

Firefighters are tackling a large grass fire in South Ayrshire.Four fire engines rushed to the scene in the Straiton area when the alarm was raised at 4.39am today (Tuesday, May 5).The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze covers around a mile.There have been no reports of any casualties.Last month fire chiefs warned lives were being put at risk by dangerous grass fires near Maybole.Worried fire chiefs shared pictures of a number blazes they've been forced to tackle of late.At the time SFRS Area Commander, Bruce Farquharson, who is also chair of the Scottish Wildfire Forum, said: "While social restrictions should continue to see a reduction in the number of people in the countryside, the threat of wildfire undoubtedly remains."At
