'Extreme' fire warning in place in parts of Scotland despite freezing temperatures
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has warned that coastal and island areas of western Scotland remain "vulnerable" to fire in spite of plummeting temperatures.The warning covers the Highlands to Dumfries and Galloway, via Argyll and Bute and Ayrshire and the Western Isles and is in place until Friday, February 12.People living in rural environments have been advised to exercise particular caution as part of the advice issued in conjunction with the Scottish Wildlife Forum (SWF).Area Commander Bruce Farquharson, who is also chair of the SWF, explained: “There may have been a lot of snow in the eastern and central areas of Scotland, but that is not the case in the western coastal areas and fuel conditions are very different.“At this
