Firefighters were called to a street in Oldham after a blaze broke out in a takeaway. The fire broke out at a premises on Abbey Hills Road at around 10.30am this morning (Tuesday).

Firefighters hosed it down and extinguished the blaze. Crews were at the scene for around an hour and half. In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At around 10:30am this morning (Tuesday 6 September) we received a report of a fire at a commercial premises on Abbey Hills Road, Oldham. "Four fire engines from Chadderton, Farnworth, Stalybridge and Mossley fire stations were quickly mobilised to the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire, which involved the kitchen of the property, using a hose reel and other equipment. "Crews were in attendance for just under an hour and a half." Read more of today's top stories here READ NEXT:
