Scots village are being poisoned after five pets died from ingesting anti-freeze in the last six months. Andy Irvine, 28, only recently moved to Drumlithie in Aberdeenshire with his partner and two kids.

Their beloved cat Smudge also came with them, and he became a firm favourite in the village as he let all the children play with him.

However, last week he was found lying in the garden, unable to move.Andy's partner Kelly Strachan, 27, rushed Smudge to the vets fearing that he had been hit by a car.

The moggie was X-Rayed and vets found no sign of injuries and sent away for blood tests. It was then discovered that he had levels of antifreeze in his body that were "through the roof" and he had to be put to sleep.
