A hairdryer seized burst into flames when it was tested in a laboratory. Council bosses said toys recovered were found to pose a choking risk to children through their small detachable parts.

Some were also coated in a potentially dangerous chemical which has been linked to childhood asthma, the council said. Manchester city council said a trading standards team visited Roman Wholesale Company on Derby Street, Cheetham Hill, in November, 2018.
