Jude Hill was just nine when he landed the role that might well lead to him becoming the youngest person to be nominated for an Oscar in over nine decades. The budding star beat 300 hopefuls to play a fictionalised version of a young Sir Kenneth Branagh in the director’s semi-autobiographical film, Belfast, which arrived in cinemas last weekend.

Largely shot in black and white, the film also stars Jamie Dornan and tells the story of a young boy growing up in a working-class family during the Troubles in the late 1960s – and Jude has wowed cinema-goers with his star turn in the lead role.

Jude's portrayal of Buddy has also impressed critics and he's now being tipped to become the youngest star to receive a Best Actor Oscar nomination since 1931.
