Matteo Garrone's live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, the animated Wolfwalkers from directors Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, and the Norwegian drama The Crossing from director Johanne Helgeland are in the running for this year's EFA Young Audience Award.
The European Film Academy on Wednesday announced the three nominees for the honor, which highlights the best European film as voted on by a jury of 12- to-14-year-olds from across Europe.
Garrone's Pinocchio, which stars Oscar-winner Roberto Benigni (Life is Beautiful) as the woodcutter Geppetto in this faithful adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s beloved children’s book, was a box office hit in Italy and picked up a BAFTA nomination for best makeup and hair (for Mark Coulier).
