Charles Lewis was riding his bike on Hyde Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning when it was hit by a black Saab. The 56-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died.

The driver of the car, a 66-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning.

Tributes have now poured in for Charles, known as Charlie, and flowers and banners have been left at the scene of the crash.
