Dublin Airport operator DAA is seeking planning permission to build a new drop-off and pick-up zone that would see cars charged to enter the set down area.
The operator is hoping the move could reduce car journeys to and from the facility while encouraging the use of public transport, and also deter private drivers from picking passengers up outside terminals, according to the Irish Times.
The planned new area would operate in front of terminal one and terminal two, with the airport's internal road layout changed and new lanes and barriers installed at the main airport exit.
