Inspiration for baby names can come from all over the globe, with many parents choosing some of their favourite destinations as a name for their little ones.The trend is set to soar in 2024, with celebrities like Paris Fury, who named her daughters Valencia and Venezuela, paving the way.
Independent travel agency Iglu Cruise has compared over 60 destination-inspired baby names to reveal which ones had the biggest percentage increase from 1996 to 2021, as well as predicting upcoming baby name trends for 2024.
With a percentage increase of 3950%, Phoenix tops the list as the fastest-growing boys’ name based on a destination. Eight babies named Phoenix were born in 1996 in England and Wales, rising to 324 in 2021, which is also the year the name peaked in popularity.
Phoenix is the capital and largest city in Arizona in the US. Rio has increased by 3156% in England and Wales from 1996 to 2021.
