Death of Scots champion rider thrown from a horse was 'tragic unpreventable accident'

Natasha Galpin, from Laggan in the Highlands, was just 22 when she died in January, 2019 while riding at Eagle Crag, at Hetlandhill Stables in Dumfries.

She was thrown onto her head and knocked out after the horse she was taking on a training run suffered a haemorrhage following a rupture it an artery between its throat and ear.

Natasha was was rushed to the town’s hospital then transferred to Glasgow’ s Queen Elizabeth University but she never regained consciousness and died the next day on January 16.

A fatal accident inquiry was held to investigate the circumstances of the death.In his written verdict to Dumfries Sherriff Court Sheriff Brian Mohan ruled that the tragic accident couldn't have been avoided.He wrote: "The accident was.
