Coronavirus Scotland: Ayrshire's Covid-19 death rate does not rise for the eighth week in a row

Ayrshire has not risen for the eighth week on the trot, new figures show. A total of 288 Ayrshire and Arran deaths have been linked to coronavirus since the pandemic began.The National Records of Scotland (NRS) revealed today in its weekly report that six people died between Monday, June 8 and Sunday, June 14 – that number was also six last week.This is the joint smallest rise in reported deaths so far and it means the rate of Covid-19-related deaths has still not increased since the week ending Sunday, April 19, when 53 people died.Across Ayrshire, 130 deaths have taken place in care homes, while hospital deaths account for 138.In South Ayrshire 108 people have died as a result of contracting Covid-19, an increase of just two on last.
