There has been a steep rise in the number of people who have died after contracting the coronavirus.The Scottish Government released new figures this afternoon as part of its daily COVID-19 update.A total of 837 people have sadly passed away after being diagnosed the disease – up 58 from yesterday.Throughout the NHS Ayrshire & Arran region, a total of 536 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, an increase of 33 since yesterday's report.The number of patients in intensive care within the health board's region with confirmed or suspected coronavirus stood at 11 at midnight.Meanwhile, the number of people in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus at midnight was 119.Across Scotland, there have been 36,637 tests carried of which
