Contracting Covid could cause your penis to shrink, doctor claims
dailyrecord.co.ukCovid could cause a penis to shorten in rare cases, a doctor has claimed. It is believed that at least two men have undergone surgery to correct erectile dysfunction problems after contracting Covid.
A University College London study of 3,400 people found the symptom to be rare among the 200 who developed long Covid, Devon Live reports.
Urologist Ashley Winter said that blood flow to the penis can be disrupted by the virus, which can then result in erectile dysfunction.
Speaking on the How to Do It podcast, Dr Winter said: “It is true that having erectile dysfunction leads to shortening. “You have this period of time where the penis is not stretching itself out, where it’s not, you know, getting all this full blood into it, and that can lead to scarring of the penis and shortening of the penis.“And that’s probably what you know your caller is referring to now.”Dr Winter also referenced a urologist's study that found two men who had completely recovered from the virus still had traces of it in their penises.
