Clacks whisky workers balloted in pay dispute

Clackmannanshire whisky industry employees are being balloted for strike action in a dispute over pay.It involves HGV drivers, cask handlers and forklift and shunter drivers employed by contractors Carntyne Transport at Cambus, Blackgrange and Menstrie.They are among 130 Carntyne Transport workers, represented by Unite, being balloted at sites across Scotland.Carntyne Transport has a number of clients including spirits giant Diageo which could be hit by any strike action over the festive period.The ballot opened Wednesday December 1 and will close on Wednesday, December 15.The strike ballot is in response to Carntyne Transport’s refusal to improve upon its £1.12 increase per hour pay offer, following unprecendented demands for drivers in
