Police officer Glynn Powell didn’t think twice when he launched himself into the cold water at Leith Docks to rescue a drowning child.

In a Superman-style move, the murder squad detective stripped to his underwear as he ran in to save the life of the three-year-old girl who had fallen in.

He’s been nominated for an award for his heroic act in September last year – but it’s not a first for Scotland’s bravest cop.
