Carlos Correa to Become Fourth Highest Paid Player in MLB With Minnesota Twins Deal

Carlos Correa is a hot commodity. The Minnesota Twins just made a major move on Saturday (March 19), signing the 27-year-old free agent shortstop in a three year deal, via the Star Tribune.

The deal is worth a reported $105.3 million, with opt-outs after 2022 and 2023 to become a free agent again. His average yearly salary of $35.1 million will make him MLB‘s fourth highest paid player and top earning infielder, according to the report.

He is also set to become be the highest-paid player in Twins history when the deal is announced, pending a physical exam. A collective bargaining agreement between the MLB and the MLB Players Association has been reached, allowing the regular season for 2022 to begin on schedule.

The three-month lockout ended and Major League Baseball has confirmed the new minimum salary for players for 2022 and the next four years.
