Builders start blaze after burning waste inside derelict restaurant

Builders renovating a derelict restaurant started a fire by burning waste inside the building.Firefighters were called to the building, which was being renovated, after smoke was seen blowing out of the window.

An investigation into the fire at the former Tulip Wok in Smallthorne revealed that the blaze had been started accidentally by the workmen who had set ablaze a pile of rubbish on the first floor, Stoke-on-Trent Live writes.The crews spent half-an-hour tackling the flames after being called at 3.10pm on February 8.They left the scene after giving safety advice to those responsible.The latest incident comes after repeated anti-social behaviour at the site, which closed around three years ago and was previously known as The Bush pub.A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: ""Firefighters attended a fire at a business premises in Smallthorne on Tuesday."At 3.10pm, crews received reports of smoke emitting from the windows of a business property on Ford Green Road."Firefighters from Sandyford and Hanley attended the scene and discovered an open fire in the first floor of the premises. "One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the blaze at 3.43pm.

No-one was injured. "The cause was later deemed accidental - as a result of builders burning waste inside of the premises. "Firefighters issued safety advice to the workers at the premises and ensured the area was safe before departing at 3.45pm."Staffordshire Police found a large-scale drugs farm inside the Smallthorne venue in lockdown three last year, And the Ford Green Road building was deliberately set on fire last August.It now appears that the premises is to be given a new lease of life.Rumours have been circulating that it is to be converted into shops
