Bryan Robson believes that Manchester United should have been challenging for the Premier League title this season after their summer transfer business and what went wrong under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 'beyond me'.

Robson, 64, is the longest-serving captain in the club’s history and stayed at the club for 13 years after joining from West Brom in 1981.

He was voted as the greatest ever United player in a poll for a book that celebrated the club reaching 19 league titles having played over 450 times.

He then left for Middlesbrough, where he went on to become player-manager in a role that kick-started his coaching career. The former England international went on to manage a number of English clubs, including his academy club West Brom.
