Britney Spears has admitted to taking Adderall as a teenager in an effort to feel "less depressed" amid the crippling pressures of fame.

Writing in her new memoir, The Woman in Me, the 41 year old opened up about some of her most raw and vulnerable experiences, which reportedly included having an abortion at 19, after her boyfriend at the time, Justin Timberlake, didn’t feel ready for parenthood. The two singers dated when they were just teenagers after meeting at The Mickey Mouse Club when they were only 12.

Justin and Britney went public with the relationship in 1999, but went their separate ways in 2002. Britney wrote in her memoir that she 'couldn't help but notice' that chat shows would ask her different types of questions than what would be asked of NSYNC star Justin, such as whether or not she had had breast implants.

In an excerpt obtained by the New York Times, she said: "Everyone kept making strange comments about my breasts, wanting to know whether or not I’d had plastic surgery." The pressure only grew as she became a fixture on MTV, and the public criticism ultimately led her to start taking Prozac, she recalls.
