BREAKING: Human remains found in woodland identified as man, 34, last seen over five years ago

Human remains discovered at a Bolton nature reserve last week have been formally identified as a missing person last seen more than five years ago.

Police were called to an area close to Aspinall Way, Future Park, Horwich, just before 3pm on Monday, January 24, following a report that bones had been discovered.

The remains were confirmed to be human and have since been formally identified as Bolton man James Hodgkiss, who was reported missing in 2016. An extensive missing person investigation was launched at the time but the 34-year-old could not be located. An investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of death.
