Bolton Wanderers are hopeful of landing Kyle Dempsey before the transfer window slams shut later on today but Ian Evatt has vowed they will walk away from any deal if the prospect of overpaying for the midfielder's services looms.

Wanderers are targeting one more addition to cap off their excellent transfer window business and have lodged a second bid with the Gills for skipper Dempsey as they aim to add the midfielder to their ranks.

The 26-year-old is approaching the last six months of his contract at Priestfield and would be able to walk away for nothing in the summer as things stand. The Gills are currently without a permanent boss and under the caretaker charge of Steve Lovell, who admits he would like to keep Dempsey but that any decision regarding player outgoings and bids is with Priestfield chairman Paul Scally.
