Hit TV show Black Mirror may be making its return, as the show's Twitter account has become active again after years of silence.

Having not been active on the social media website since 2019, when the show's fifth season dropped on Netflix, the show's Twitter account returned with a simple tweet on Tuesday, reading: "what have we missed?" Show creator Charlie Brooker added to the fan speculation that the show is returning, as he replied with a quizzical emoji, and re-tweeted the account's cryptic message.

Netflix's Twitter account also added fuel to the fire, responding with: "Scientists are still creating robots that slowly harness more and more advanced AI like they haven't watched a single episode of your show." The tweets sent fans of the show into a frenzy, with one writing: "black mirror after what feels like 3929293 years." "REAL TELEVISION IS BACK," added another, while a third wrote: "I’m so ready for a new season." Referenced, the Covid-19 pandemic, a fourth added: "We went though a whole pandemic and now y'all back just like that?" and a fifth joked: "Everything, now drop something so I can escape my life." It comes after Variety reported back in 2022 that a sixth season of the show had been greenlit, with a source telling the outlet that it will be "even more cinematic in scope" than the show's previous seasons.

Back in 2020 Charlie Brooker left fans disappointed when he told the Radio Times that he didn't think there was much desire for a sixth season of the dystopian anthology series.
