Billy Connolly fans want to name a new landmark in Scotland after the comedy legend. Glaswegians are looking to pay tribute to the star after a petition to name a new bridge over the River Clyde has reached more than 1,800 signatures.
The petition to name the new £29.5m Govan/Partick pedestrian and cycle bridge after the Big Yin has racked up the impressive number of signatures in less than a week after it was launched.
The author of the petition noted that the bridge would be a fitting tribute for the retired comedian after he spent many years living in Partick and working as an apprentice in the Govan shipyards.
The bridge, which will link Water Row in Govan and Pointhouse Quay in Partick, is expected to open to the public towards the end of 2023, Glasgow Live reports.
